Development of fuel cell technology is the development of an experimental technology and an applicable technology. The development requires a variety of experiments and accumulated experience.


Azure aims at its own Research and Development, focus on cooperation and collaboration in China and abroad, and targets at global research institutions and developers.


1.    International Partners

In May 2013, Beijing Azure Hydrogen Energy Science & Tech. Corp signed MOU with Ballard Power Systems Inc., a global leading enterprise of Proton exchange membrane fuel cell. Azure will promote industrialisation of mass production in China for fuel cell buses, fuel cell backup power, and distributed power fuel cell battery.


Azure has been cooperates with Ballard for almost 3 years. During last few years, Azure has developed control systems for fuel cell stacks from Ballard, and upgraded four functions for products from Dantherm Power which were originally missing.


Azure collaborated with Ballard and China Mobile to deploy 30 sets of backup power of communication base stations for trials. Azure was responsible for marketing support of backup power systems manufactured by Ballard Power Systems Inc. in the Southeast Asia. Azure and Ballard developed 175kW distributed generation systems together, and Azure holds partial technology rights.


Azure acquired 10% share of Danish Dantherm Power, Ballard’s subsidiary communications backup fuel cell company. Azure, therefore, becomes shareholder of Ballard Power Systems Inc. As an exclusive agent of Danish Dantherm Power A/S in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, Azure is responsible for the design, integration, installation, training and technical support of Telecommunications Industry fuel cell power system in Asia. Azure became Ballard's shareholders. Blue sky company is also a subsidiary of Ballard Power Company.


2.    Domestic partners


In China, Azure Hydrogen commits itself to the development of industrialization for fuel cell technology. On the one side, Azure cooperates with upstream and downstream enterprises to promote localized development of components, raw materials and supporting systems; on the other hand, Azure Hydrogen collaborates with domestic universities, research institutes, manufacturers of fuel cell developers to complete a variety of topics, testing, research, and development with different angles.


Azure Hydrogen also establishes the ‘Industry-Academy-Research’ cooperation with Tsinghua University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Shandong University of Technology, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Beijing University of Science and Technology, Wuhan University of Technology, China Aerospace Science & Industry Corp (CASIC) and other associated departments and units. The cooperation provides strong technical force for in-depth development and extensive application of hydrogen energy technology to Azure.
